Who needs an account to open a link?

Short answer: people viewing or commenting never do. Only publishing and editing need a sign-in.

Coedit is built so your link is easy to pass around. The account line is drawn at creating and editing, not at viewing.

Do people need an account to open my link?
No. Anyone with a view or comment link opens the page straight away in their browser.
Do they need an account to leave a comment?
No. Guests comment under a name they can set, with no sign-up.
When is an account needed?
To publish your own project, and to edit a page through an edit link. Editors sign in once so every change is attributed.
Why do editors have to sign in?
So every change to the page has a name attached. That is what makes the history and version rollback trustworthy.

This is the whole point: free, unlimited viewing and commenting keep your link frictionless to share.
