Who pays for AI edits?
AI edits can run three ways in Coedit, and you choose. Two of them cost you nothing extra.
If you use AI to help edit a page, that AI has to run somewhere. In Coedit there are three ways it can run, and only the first uses Coedit's own AI.
- Coedit-run: the built-in apply and suggestions, running on Coedit's key. Metered, with a monthly allowance on Free and more on paid plans.
- Bring your own key: your edits run on your own AI provider key, so Coedit's meter stays at zero.
- Your own agent (CLI / MCP): your agent reads the page and writes changes on your own computer. Coedit is just the data layer.
There is no anonymous AI usage and no unlimited free AI usage. The meter is only there to cover the cost of Coedit-run edits.
